As Ball State quarterback Drew Plitt dropped back to pass midway through the first quarter of the Cardinals game at the University of Toledo on Wednesday, he was blind-sided by Rockets freshman Terrance Taylor.
The ball came loose from Plitt, bounced off the foot of a Toledo defender, and was tracked down in the end zone by Toledo’s Tuzar Skipper.
It was the first defensive touchdown of the season for Toledo and with 7:43 left in the opening quarter, the Rockets had already opened up a three-touchdown lead.
Toledo didn’t look back in a 45-13 rout of the Cardinals that helped them keep pace in the Mid-American Conference West Division race.
