The University of Toledo men's basketball team smothered visiting Akron 78-64 tonight at Savage Arena.
UT (11-6, 2-2 Mid-American Conference) used a 16-1 run in the second half to blow open the game and take a 21-point lead with 4:32 to play. The Zips (13-4, 2-2) cut the lead to 14 in fewer than two minutes, but couldn't do enough during the final moments to seriously challenge the Rockets' lead.
Nathan Boothe led UT with 25 points and nine rebounds, while Stuckey Mosley chopped in 19 points and four assists.
The Rockets will travel next, but not far.
