Each year spring football begins with a sense of optimism for the season that lies ahead.
This year is no different for the University of Toledo football team, but an infusion of new faces on the coaching staff gives this spring a distinctly fresh feel.
After a six-win season last year, Toledo has a new defensive coordinator in former Mount Union head coach Vince Kehres, a new co-defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach in veteran Craig Kuligowski, and a new quarterbacks coach in former Tampa Plant High School coach Robert Weiner.
“Anytime there is change you have a choice whether you can accept and overcome and adapt to some of the things that aren't routine anymore,” Toledo coach Jason Candle said.
