On Saturday, it may have cost them a Mid-American Conference championship.
The Rockets picked the worst possible time for several special teams gaffes that proved costly in a 23-14 loss to Miami in the MAC title game.
“Below average. Not characteristic of who we are,” Toledo coach Jason Candle said. “That certainly impacted the game. That’s a very good special teams unit that we played today. They’re going to put pressure on you. They’ve been good in the kicking team for a long time.
