The largest regular-season crowd in Toledo women’s basketball history jammed into Savage Arena on Saturday afternoon.
There was a noticeable buzz pregame, an acknowledgment of what was about to come.
A majority of the 6,086 in attendance were there to scream and clap, and, 40 minutes later, Toledo would have its second consecutive outright Mid-American Conference championship.
Except it didn’t go entirely as planned for the home team or the home fans.

For the first 25 minutes, archrival Bowling Green turned Savage Arena into a mausoleum and played the role of neighborhood bully.
