TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's basketball program has received the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for a fifth-straight season, the association announced on Thursday. The award is in its 11th year of existence, and the Rockets have received the award on eight occasions.
Toledo's eight NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards leads all Mid-American Conference schools. Western Michigan ranks second with five awards, with Central Michigan receiving the award on three occasions. Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami and Ohio have been recognized once.
The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes NCAA and NAIA men's basketball teams that earned a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.
