PHILADELPHIA — The University of Toledo came to the East Coast in search of early-season currency, and it left with a pot of gold.
In a matchup of premier mid-major programs, Toledo’s all-around game left Alabama-Birmingham perplexed. The Rockets shot better than 50 percent from the field, forced 22 turnovers, and limited UAB to 12-of-34 shooting in the second half in a resume-boosting 93-85 victory.
UAB’s Jordan “Jelly” Walker, one of the nation’s top scorers last season, had 25 points.
RayJ Dennis (23 points), Setric Millner, Jr., (21), and JT Shumate (20) all reached the 20-point mark.
