On Monday evening in the Grogan Room at Savage Arena, a watch party of a few dozen people erupted when the Rockets appeared on the TV screen.
Unseeded Toledo (18-5) will play No. 7 seed Michigan (24-4) in Ann Arbor.
At-large qualifiers Louisiana State (14-10) or California (12-10) would await UT if the Rockets upset Michigan.
Date and times will be announced later Monday.
