AKRON — Akron forward Ali Ali’s 3-pointer with five seconds remaining in the second half forced overtime, and Maishe Dailey’s 3-pointer with five seconds left in the extra period sent the Zips past the University of Toledo 95-94 at James A. Rhodes Arena on Saturday.
The Rockets (11-4, 6-1 Mid-American Conference) sustained their first loss in conference play this season.
Toledo took an 81-80 lead with 1:16 left in regulation on a Marreon Jackson layup, and extended the lead to 83-80 on a pair of Ryan Rollins free throws with 24 seconds left before Ali’s 3-pointer forced OT.
