Dan Bolden had waited a full 13 months to play a college football game.
During fall camp in 2021, the linebacker suffered a season-ending ACL tear. He spent the season as defensive coordinator Vince Kehres’ gofer, watching the game unfold like never before, glimpsing the defense from different angles, and getting a taste of life after playing when Bolden hopes to follow in the footsteps of his football-coaching family.
Bolden went through spring practice and fall camp last year, emerging as the Dan Bolden who was one of Toledo’s top defensive players during the coronavirus-shortened season in 2021.
