The University of Toledo football team made an early season statement in Mid-American Conference play with a 31-24 win over Western Michigan on Saturday at the Glass Bowl.
Rockets quarterback Mitch Guadagni accounted for all four Toledo touchdowns — two passing and two rushing.
Toledo (4-1, 1-0 MAC) took the opening drive 80 yards on six plays and scored when Guadagni hit Bryce Mitchell for a 38-yard TD connection.
The Rockets added to their lead on a 5-yard pass from Guadagni to Devin Maddox that gave them a 14-0 edge with 6:49 left in the opening quarter.
