Cornell Ford has seen the best of Toledo football.
He was a Gary Pinkel assistant for seven seasons, including three West Division championships. The Rockets never finished worse than third in the Mid-American Conference, winning 76.9 percent of their games.
Ford hopes the second act is even better than the first.
The Maumee native has been tabbed by UT coach Jason Candle as cornerbacks coach, filling a vacancy created by Hank Poteat’s hiring at Wisconsin.
“I was thrilled when coach Candle said there might be an opportunity,” Ford told The Blade. “I’m still excited. I have to pinch myself every once in a while because I can’t believe it worked out.
