TOLEDO, Ohio – The defending Mid-American Conference champion Toledo men's tennis team fell 4-3 to defending GLIAC champion Wayne State on Friday afternoon at Shadow Valley Tennis Club in the Rockets' home opener.
Toledo trailed 3-1 after dropping the doubles point as well as the No. 2 and No. 5 singles courts, but junior and freshman secured back-to-back three-set victories to even the match at 3-3.
Freshman battled on the No. 6 court before ultimately falling in a tiebreaker, 6-4, in the longest match of the afternoon. He won his first set by a 6-2 margin over Benjamin Hill and lost the second set in a tough 7-6(2) decision.
