The first injury occurred when AJ Edu was competing in the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup in Greece.
The Cypriot tore the ACL in his right knee, undergoing surgery in Toledo followed by an exhausting 14-month rehabilitation process.
Forty-seven game minutes into his return, Edu suffered another season-ending injury, this time to the meniscus in the same knee. Another surgery, another rehab.
Over the past two seasons, he’s missed 60 games and a Mid-American Conference championship. Those days are nearing an expiration date, though, as Edu completed his second rehab last week and is gearing up for a full-contact summer.
