CLEVELAND — What do players and coaches think of preseason predictions?
Not a whole lot.
Of course, the games aren’t played on paper. If they were, Toledo would have won about five Mid-American Conference titles in the past decade. Alas, the Rockets have a single championship. But this season could be different — according to what’s on paper.
The MAC’s media contingent handed Toledo six of 24 first-place votes, second only to defending champion Northern Illinois’ nine. Phil Steele, college football’s most accurate prognosticator, picked UT to finish 10-2. ESPN’s David Hale said the Rockets are the best over/under bet in the sport, advising prospective bettors to take the over on eight wins.
