MUNCIE, Ind. — As a Ball State possession went off the rails — the University of Toledo nearly had stolen the ball and the shot clock was winding down — Cardinals forward Bo Calhoun had but one choice.
From some 24 feet away, Calhoun let fly as the shot clock expired. The desperation shot, like everything else Wednesday at Worthen Arena, didn't go Toledo’s way.
Calhoun's make was just one instance of a barrage of Cardinals points. The Rockets found some offense in the second half, but their defense failed them from wire to wire in a humbling 87-69 loss in the Mid-American Conference men’s basketball opener for both teams.
