AKRON, Ohio – The Toledo softball team found itself on the losing end of a 4-2 final to Akron in the Mid-American Conference opener for both squads on Friday.
The game was tied 2-2 when the Zips won it with a walk-off two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Junior connected on a team-high two hits and drove in one run, and three other Rockets collected hits. Junior went the distance against the Zips and gave up nine hits in the loss.
Toledo (9-11, 0-1 MAC) will close out the Akron series with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.
