AKRON — History repeated itself for the University of Toledo.
And it wasn’t the good type.
On Tuesday, the Rockets, dazed from last week’s listless loss, suffered a devastating 21-14 overtime loss at Akron, a disastrous finish to a turbulent year.
It was eerily reminiscent of 2013 when Toledo lost to Northern Illinois in the second-to-last week of the season, knocking the Rockets out of the Mid-American Conference championship race. UT ended the season by losing at four-win Akron the following week.
That team missed out on a bowl game. The 2024 Rockets will go bowling, but their motivation appears to be waning.
