Some results, however, sting more than others. And the University of Toledo’s 41-26 loss to archrival Bowling Green in the Battle of I-75 on Saturday had a distinctive pain.
Tucker Gleason’s moist, red eyes. The 1,000-yard stare from Jerjuan Newton. The ashen look on Jason Candle’s face. They all told a story of torment and how important this game is to the Rockets.
“You don’t ever want to lose to that crew,” Candle said. “Tough chapter in this rivalry.”
The challenge for Toledo is not falling into the trap of self-pity and misery.
