TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team capped its series sweep of Eastern Michigan with a 15-5 run-rule victory on Sunday at Scott Park.
A day after stunning the Eagles with a 14-run second inning, the Rockets once again did significant damage in the second frame. They scored eight runs in the second inning on Sunday and followed that up with a six-run bottom of the fifth. UT held a 14-5 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh and needed just a run to capture its second-straight run-rule win. Freshman Garret Pike delivered a base hit into the gap in right-center field, driving home sophomore Scott Mackiewicz to end the game.
