When the University of Toledo men’s basketball team desperately needed to show some fight on Saturday night against Northern Illinois, a scuffle broke out near mid-court at Savage Arena midway through the second half.
After shoves were exchanged, heated words were traded back and forth, and several players needed to be held back, a lengthy review resulted in technical fouls to Toledo’s Willie Jackson and Marreon Jackson and Northern Illinois’ Dante Thorpe and Rod Henry-Hayes, but no ejections.
The dust-up seemed to ignite Toledo and the Rockets, after trailing by as many as 11 points in the second half, completed a comeback for a 57-54 win.
