DETROIT — Quinyon Mitchell’s next stop is Philadelphia.
The former University of Toledo cornerback was drafted 22nd overall by the Philadelphia Eagles during the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday.
The two-time All-American projects as an instant impact rookie for Eagles.
Mitchell was a curiosity in his final two seasons at UT, attracting an assembly line of NFL scouts and front office personnel to the Glass Bowl. He entered the first-round conversation after a standout performance at the Senior Bowl in January. A month later, he surged into the middle of first-round mock drafts by posting impressive numbers at the NFL combine.
