Emotions can change in an instant.
That was clear on Friday in Cleveland when the Toledo men’s and women’s basketball teams suffered brutal losses in the Mid-American Conference tournament semifinals, one week after they both celebrated outright MAC championships in a boisterous Savage Arena.
In one week, the Rockets went from elation to anguish.
“They’ve been absolutely amazing,” UT women’s basketball coach Tricia Cullop said after the Rockets lost to Ball State. “They have nothing to hang their head about. It’s hard to be perfect.”
A few hours later, Toledo men’s basketball coach Tod Kowalczyk sat in the same chair at the same table as Cullop and answered the same questions about the untimely demise of the Rockets.
