COLUMBUS — A six-run eighth inning allowed the University of Toledo’s baseball team to defeat Ohio State 11-6 in a midweek nonconference game Tuesday at Ohio State’s Bill Davis Stadium.
Ohio State led 6-4 for much of the game after posting a four-run first inning. But Toledo broke through in the eighth, sending 11 batters to the plate.
All of Toledo’s offense in the eighth came with two out. Singles by Tre Mariano and Luke Leto put two runners on for Kaleb Herbert, whose infield single sent Mariano home. A wild pitch sent Leto home to tie the game at 6, and the Rockets took the lead when Herbert scored on a fielding error.
