A torn ACL during her senior year of high school altered University of Toledo guard Nakiah Black’s path to Division I college basketball.
As one of the top players in North Carolina, Black had a scholarship offer from the University of North Carolina, but it was pulled after the injury.
Black ultimately landed at Tallahassee (Fla.) Community College, and she wouldn’t have had it any other way.
“I still could have gone DI, but I didn’t want to just do something because I felt like I had to,” Black said. “I’m very spiritual so I get a feeling when I know that I’m in the right place.
