TOLEDO, Ohio – Senior NJ Botha was named Mid-American Conference Co-Men's Golfer of the Week honors, the league office announced on Wednesday. Botha was honored for the first time in his collegiate career after tying for second place to help Toledo capture a share of the Island Resort Intercollegiate title on Monday.
A George, South Africa native, Botha carded a career-low nine-under par 207 in the Rockets' season-opening tournament. Toledo tied for first with Illinois State and finished four shots ahead of Michigan and eight ahead of Kentucky. Botha opened the tourney with a four-under par 68, one shy of his collegiate best.
