DeKALB, Ill. — A strong first half and a break-even second half carried the University of Toledo men’s basketball team to an 84-67 victory over Northern Illinois in Mid-American Conference action Saturday at NIU’s Convocation Center.
The Rockets (11-6, 2-2 MAC) hit 50 percent of their shots from the field (15 of 30) in the first half as UT jumped out to a 41-23 lead through 20 minutes. The big run started with 10:04 to go in the first half, when Andre Lorentsson’s layup started a 17-0 outburst that stretched nearly five minutes and turned a 3-point Rockets edge into an 20-point advantage.
