TOLEDO, Ohio – Sophomore guard Sam Lewis has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career after averaging 20.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg to lead the Toledo men's basketball team to two victories last week. Lewis also shot an an impressive 62.5% (15-of-24) from the field and 60.0% (6-of-10) from three-point range.
A Chicago native, Lewis opened the week by scoring a team-high 19 points and tying his career best with four three-point field goals in the Rockets' 87-74 win over Buffalo on Tuesday. He then paced the Rockets with 22 points, one shy of his career high, in a 72-69 victory over James Madison on Saturday.
