PASADENA, Calif. — Nick Saban has won seven national titles, scaling the heights of college football time and again.
But for all the legendary Alabama coach has accomplished in his unsurpassed career, he continues to appreciate one championship team above all.
His first one: the 1990 Toledo Rockets.
“I have such great respect and admiration for the players on that team,” Saban told The Blade on Saturday at Rose Bowl media day. “It was my first opportunity to be a head coach. You never know how players are going to respond, but they really bought in.
