Kalamazoo, MI – Toledo defeated Western Michigan, 3-1, on Friday afternoon at Fran Ebert Field. The Rockets enter tomorrow's doubleheader with an 11-31 overall record (4-11 MAC), while WMU drops to 18-11 overall and 9-5 in the conference.
Senior RPH Marla Gooding (9-15) helped propel Toledo to its victory by not allowing any earned runs or walking any batters. Gooding pitched for all seven innings and struck out two.
Senior LF Jessica Lemieux put Toledo on the board in the top of the first when she scored on a Broncos throwing error.
Sophomore C Kaitlyn Bergman made it 2-0 in the second with her third home run of the season.
