DETROIT — A wild game yielded a furious final minute at Calihan Hall, and for the first time this season, a young University of Toledo men's basketball team showed its age.
The Rockets piled up late-game mistakes and ultimately paid for them with a 75-72 loss to Detroit.
UT cost itself with two turnovers inside the final 30 seconds, which, coupled with shaky 3-point defense, proved too much to overcome.
“I just don't think we came to play today,” Toledo guard Jonathan Williams said. “They outplayed us today; they were a little tougher than us. We had some casual turnovers in key moments, and when you're on the road, you can't do that.
