TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo battled through seven innings of sleet, rain, and wind with Akron on Saturday afternoon but came out on the losing side of a 10-6 final at Scott Park.
The game was tied at 2-2 when the visitors exploded for seven runs in the third inning, keyed by a grand slam by Abigail Scheller. The Rockets rallied with two runs in the third and fifth innings, but could not overcome the deficit. Toledo put two runners on in the seventh inning but a double play ended the game.
Jenna Kroll went 3-for-4, scored one run and had one RBI double in the fifth inning.
