ESTERO, Fla. — The University of Toledo men’s basketball team shot the lights out in its first-round game at the Gulf Coast Showcase, beating Florida Gulf Coast 90-62 on Monday night at Hertz Arena.
The Rockets (3-1) were 12-of-21 from the 3-point line as seven different Toledo players made shots from beyond the arc.
Jaelan Sanford and Nate Navigato led the barrage with three 3s each.
Sanford paced a balanced Toledo offense with 18 points, Chris Darrington scored 14 points off the bench, Luke Knapke had 13, Marreon Jackson added 12, and Willie Jackson 11.
“I thought we were really efficient on offense tonight,” UT coach Tod Kowalczyk said.
