BOCA RATON, Fla. — The return trip to the Boca Raton Bowl is less hectic and more standard for Jason Candle.
The last time Toledo played in the South Florida-based game, Candle had been head coach for less than a month and he had a barebones coaching staff preparing to play the No. 24-ranked team in the country.
He’s coming to FAU Stadium with all of his assistants this time, two Mid-American Conference championships, and 53 career wins.
“That was a wild time,” Candle said, hearkening back to 2015. “You’re trying to rally and keep your locker room together, you’re trying to put together a recruiting class, you’re trying to put your feet on the ground and do all the things that you want to do as a first-time head coach.
