The University of Toledo football team was down to its third string quarterback for Saturday’s game against Eastern Michigan.
But the good news for the Rockets was that the third-stringer in question was Eli Peters, who has a lot of experience under center for Toledo after starting six games last season.
Peters passed for 1,837 yards and 18 touchdowns last season, but this was his first start of the season this year.
With Mitch Guadagni and Carter Bradley held out with injuries, it was Peters' game from the start, and he answered the bell by leading the Toledo offense to a 37-34 overtime victory.
