OXFORD, Ohio — The biggest news of the night Tuesday for the University of Toledo men’s basketball team wasn’t so much its 97-63 romp over Miami (Ohio) as it was an upset that went down in the other corner of the state.
Jalin Billingsley’s putback dunk with 1.9 seconds remaining lifted Eastern Michigan to a 61-60 road stunner of first-place Akron. The result allowed Toledo to pull level with Akron atop the Mid-American Conference standings with a game to go.
