On day Toledo men's basketball needed a win, the Rockets got exactly that

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Not every win needs to have a place in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

And the University of Toledo’s 76-70 victory over Western Michigan on Saturday belongs nowhere near Springfield.

But it was the type of game teams have to grind out, and that’s exactly what the Rockets did.

UT entered the day with five losses in its previous six games, and it needed an injection of confidence. The Rockets got it by playing a Mid-American Conference opponent it owned, much like the rest of the league. The four-time defending champions got off to the start they wanted.
