The first year of the Tim Albin era at Ohio University ended unceremoniously.
The Bobcats lost 21-10 on a cold, windy Friday at 4-8 Bowling Green in front of fewer than 10,000 people. It was, to put it frankly, a miserable season for Ohio.
Long-time coach Frank Solich retired abruptly in July, weeks before the start of the regular season, and his top deputy of 16 years was elevated to head coach. Ohio went 3-9 and lost by an average of 13 points.
Entering 2022, Albin was already on hot seat lists and the Bobcats were predicted to finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference East Division by the media and fifth by the coaches.
