INDIANAPOLIS — This year, while University of Toledo football had no players invited to the NFL combine, one key member of the program still made the trip to Lucas Oil Stadium.
Adam Barta, associate athletic trainer and the football team’s head athletic trainer, attended the combine as a guest of the Dallas Cowboys medical team. Jim Mauer, the Cowboys head athletic trainer and president of the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society invites a handful of college athletic trainers to the weeklong event each year. Barta was recommended and got the call from Mauer in early January.
“It was a really cool opportunity to come down,” Barta told The Blade.
