OXFORD, Ohio – Clutch free throw shooting for Miami proved to be the difference as the University of Toledo women’s basketball team could not complete a second-half comeback on Wednesday night at Millett Hall and the RedHawks escaped with a 65-64 win.
Toledo’s Kaayla McIntyre got a steal and a layup that tied the game at 61 with 41 seconds remaining.
On Miami’s next possession, Savannah Kluesner drew a foul and knocked down both free throws to give the RedHawks a 63-61 lead with 17 seconds left.
Toledo’s Mikaela Boyd then drew a foul of her own on a drive to the basket but was only able to make one of her two free throws and the Rockets still trailed 63-62 with 7.
