Toledo, Ohio— Senior libero Maurissa Leonard of the University of Toledo women's volleyball team has been named Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Leonard averaged 6.67 digs per set last weekend and was credited with just three reception errors in 68 attempts. She is just 16 digs away from becoming Toledo's all-time career leader in digs.
The Oregon, Ohio native and her Rocket volleyball teammates opened the season last weekend at the Golden Dome Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame. UT played against the Fighting Irish as well as Northern Kentucky and Weber State.
