TOLEDO, Ohio – University of Toledo junior Madeline Vining earned Mid-American Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced on Wednesday.
The Toledo, Ohio native highlighted the Toledo women's track & field distance runners at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic on Saturday. Vining set the school record in the 3000m with a time of 9:16.87, surpassing Toledo Hall of Famer Brianna Shook who previously set the record at 9:23.90 in 2003.
Vining's 3000m time ranks first in the MAC and 5th in the NCAA DI Great Lakes Region.
This is Vining's first career weekly conference honor.
