MONTGOMERY, Ala. — None of the success that University of Toledo senior tight end Michael Roberts is having has come easy.
Coming to Toledo as a raw prospect from Cleveland Benedictine High School, Roberts’ ascent as one of the nation’s top tight ends took a long and winding path. He admits looking back on his early years with the Rockets he didn’t put in the work necessary to earn consistent playing time.
But that didn’t make it less difficult for him.
“It was definitely rough and I was definitely humbled, especially coming to Toledo from being the guy at my high school to coming here and not even making the first travel squad when we played Florida,” Roberts said.
