CLEVELAND — Tricia Cullop texted Buffalo coach Becky Burke on Tuesday to tell her how impressed she was by how hard the Bulls play every game.
Little did Cullop know that effort would nearly end Toledo’s season the next afternoon.
In a heartstopping thriller Wednesday, the Rockets and Bulls needed an extra five minutes to settle things, and when the final buzzer sounded, No. 1 seed Toledo survived by the slimmest margin, 75-74.
“Everybody is playing for their life right now,” Cullop said. “We knew we were going to get their best shot. I thought their kids played their hearts out, but I also thought mine did.
