OAKLAND, Mich. — The University of Toledo’s Quinesha Lockett and Jessica Cook had strong performances in leading the Rockets past Oakland 84-72 for a season-opening win on Tuesday.
Lockett scored a team-high 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range and 4-of-5 at the foul line. She added 12 rebounds, four offensive, and dished out three assists with a steal.
“I told them I was proud of them after the game,” Toledo head coach Tricia Cullop said. “We had some sloppy moments tonight, which is to be expected in the first game of the year, but we also had some moments where we executed really well.
