SAN DIEGO — Quinesha Lockett’s basket in the post as time expired lifted the University of Toledo women’s basketball team to a 74-73 victory Friday over Southern Methodist in the San Diego Classic.
The Rockets (2-2) overcame a 14-point halftime deficit. They trailed by 17 points three minutes into the third quarter before rallying, outscoring the Mustangs 28-15 to cut the deficit to a single point heading into the fourth.
"I thought at halftime we fixed a lot of the mistakes we were making in the first half," Toledo coach Tricia Cullop said. "I thought Hannah Noveroske came out and scored some big points in the second half.
