Toledo’s Tod Kowalczyk will remain with the Rockets after media reports this week tied him to the open Utah State men’s basketball head coaching position, The Blade has learned.
Kowalczyk, 57, was reported by multiple media outlets as being a top candidate for the Utah State job, which opened when Danny Sprinkle left for the University of Washington. But Kowalczyk confirmed to The Blade on Friday that he is remaining with Toledo.
The Rockets are coming off a season in which they won their fourth straight outright Mid-American Conference championship before falling short in Cleveland at the league tournament, extending an NCAA tournament drought to 44 years.
