Kent State is no problem for short-handed Rockets

New coach, retooled team, same result.

Toledo and Kent State have been two of the Mid-American Conference’s most consistent women’s basketball programs in recent years, with a competitive yet lopsided series to match.

On Wednesday, Ginny Boggess got her first taste of Todd Starkey and the Golden Flashes, sending them back to northeast Ohio with a humbling 70-59 loss. It was UT’s eighth consecutive win against Kent.

The short-handed Rockets (10-3, 2-1) were without starting point guard Cadence Dykstra, backup center Hannah Noveroske, who plays starter minutes, and freshman guard Kendall Braden, each of whom were nursing injured ankles.
