YPSILANTI, Mich. — Just when the University of Toledo’s Mid-American Conference hopes looked toast, the Rockets manufactured an unlikely comeback on Saturday in an equally improbable fourth quarter to stun Eastern Michigan 29-28.
UT outscored the Eagles 22-9 during the final quarter, scoring the game-winning touchdown on fourth-and-1, then withstanding a successful desperation pass before denying Eastern on a two-point conversion on the game’s final play.
“Resilient victory by our football team,” Toledo coach Jason Candle said. “Really proud of their effort. Some guys stepped up in some really hard moments and did some really good things.
