Bryan Blair was going to become a Division I athletic director.
The question was when and where.
For a couple of years, one particular job had the Washington State deputy ADs interest, but it wasn’t open. That changed last year with what was publicly billed as a retirement by Toledo AD Mike O’Brien.
Suddenly, the job Blair had identified as a desirable destination was available. As he prepared to make the 2,000-mile journey from Pullman, Wash., to Toledo for the most important job interview of his life, the nerves kicked in.
“Sometimes when you want something too badly,” Blair said Thursday during an introductory news conference at Savage Arena.
